What it means for the tally

The Ashes dates back to the 1882-83 series, and the winners receive the Waterford Crystal Ashes Trophy, with the original urn kept at the MCC Museum at Lord's. Australia have now won 21 of the 37 series played on home soil. After 74 series overall, Australia have won 35, England 32 and seven have been drawn. Australia hold the Ashes and have won or drawn every series since 2017-18. The next series is in England in 2027, scheduled from 18 June to 2 August.
