India beat New Zealand to win the 2025 Champions Trophy
India beat New Zealand by four wickets in Dubai to win a record third Champions Trophy title, finishing the tournament without losing a match.

India won the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy on 9 March 2025, beating New Zealand by four wickets in the final at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. The result gave India a record third title in the competition and made them the first team to win a Champions Trophy undefeated.
New Zealand batted first and reached 251/7 in their 50 overs. Daryl Mitchell top-scored with 63 and Michael Bracewell finished unbeaten on 53. India replied with 254/6, getting there in 49 overs.
Rohit Sharma leads the chase
India captain Rohit Sharma made 76 off 83 balls and put on 105 for the opening wicket with Shubman Gill, which gave the chase its platform. Rohit was named Player of the Match, the first captain to win that award in a Champions Trophy final. Rachin Ravindra of New Zealand was named Player of the Tournament.
Prize money was US$2.365m for India and US$1.245m for New Zealand. It was also the first major title for India coach Gautam Gambhir.
What it means for the title tally
This was India's third Champions Trophy title, after 2002 and 2013. The 2002 title was shared with Sri Lanka, because the final in Colombo was washed out on both the scheduled day and the reserve day. India now lead the all-time list of winners; Australia, with titles in 2006 and 2009, are next on two. South Africa (1998), New Zealand (2000), West Indies (2004) and Pakistan (2017) have one each.
The tournament returned after an eight-year gap. Pakistan was the official host, but India's matches were played in Dubai under an agreement between the BCCI and the PCB, which is why the final was staged at a neutral venue. The event ran from 19 February to 9 March 2025 with eight teams.
The next Champions Trophy is due to be held in India in 2029, although the dates have not been confirmed.
