India beat Pakistan to win the 2025 Asia Cup in Dubai
India won their ninth Asia Cup title by five wickets in the first final ever played between India and Pakistan in the tournament.

India beat Pakistan by five wickets in the Asia Cup final at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on 28 September 2025, winning the T20I tournament for the ninth time. It was the first Asia Cup final between the two teams since the competition began in 1984.
Pakistan were bowled out for 146 in 19.1 overs. India replied with 150/5, getting there in 19.4 overs.
Tilak Varma and Abhishek Sharma
Tilak Varma made an unbeaten 69 off 53 balls and was named Player of the Match. Abhishek Sharma was Player of the Tournament; his 314 runs are the most in an Asia Cup T20I tournament.
The 2025 tournament used a format of two groups of four, with the top two from each group moving into a Super 4 round-robin stage. The top two Super 4 teams then played the final. It was the first Asia Cup with eight teams.
Trophy not presented
India declined to receive the trophy from Asian Cricket Council president Mohsin Naqvi, so the trophy was not formally presented after the match. The BCCI announced Rs 21 crore for the team.
What it means for the title tally
India's ninth title extends their lead at the top of the Asia Cup table. After 17 editions, India have nine titles (seven in ODI format and two in T20I), Sri Lanka have six and Pakistan have two. India's previous win was in 2023, when they beat Sri Lanka by 10 wickets in Colombo after bowling them out for 50. The tournament began in 1984 in Sharjah with three teams, and India won that first edition.
The 2025 edition had eight teams for the first time and was played in the United Arab Emirates. India had originally been named host, but the tournament was moved to the UAE. The next Asia Cup, in 2027, is scheduled to be an ODI event for six teams in Bangladesh.
